TOEFL You take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and receive a score that is equal to or higher than your program’s requirements.  Some departments do not accept the IELTS, please check with your program. Official TOEFL and IELTS test scores are only valid for two years from the date of taking the test. GRE GRE General Test scores are required for all applicants to our program, and they cannot be waived based on academic or professional accomplishments. The test must have been taken within the past five years. There is no fixed minimum score for admission. However, if your combined verbal and quantitative scores are below 1100 (on the prior scale) or below the 60th percentile (using the new scale), you must have an outstanding grade point average and strong letters of recommendation.
