An Academic Statement (two parts):
Part 1: A concise narrative statement (maximum of 500 words) of your plans for graduate study, your career goals, and how MSU’s CSD MA program will help you meet your career and educational objectives. MSU’s CSD MA program is a unique academic, pedagogical and clinical environment. The statement should illuminate how MSU will help you meet your academic goals and succeed. This statement may include your academic path which has prepared you for the program, even if the path was not related specifically to CSD. Upload this statement as a PDF.
Part 2: Use one of the two forms which best matches your background: Prerequisite Coursework Review Form - MSU Undergraduate or the Prerequisite Coursework Review Form - Alternative Undergraduate Institution The first form is for MSU graduates who have taken MSU CSD undergraduate courses, where the second is for all other applicants. Within these forms, you will enter your coursework information that satisfies prerequisite training for our M.A. program and coursework/standards required by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Once complete, upload the correct document to the portal. Please add any clarification of information in the form underneath your narrative Academic Statement.
GPA
The average cumulative undergraduate GPA scores for students admitted in 2017 was 3.65. Cumulative GPAs in this class ranged from 3.25 to 3.99. Students with cumulative GPAs lower than 3.0 are considered for admission if their record include other markers that might predict strong academic preparation and high probability of success in the graduate program. These include, for example, strong GRE scores, excellent letters of recommendations, prior work experience, or other significant credentials. Please note that the Michigan State University Registrar's office web pages clearly states that "Admission to regular status in the Masters of Arts program is contingent upon a bachelor's degree from an approved college or university, and academic grade-point average of 3.00 or better in the last two years of undergraduate study".
