TOEFL
International students whose native language is not English also must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS academic). To be considered official, test scores must be reported directly from the testing agency to Ohio University. A TOEFL-iBT of 90 is required, along with written documentation of English speaking ability from a faculty who has spoken with the applicant by telephone or in person.

Statement of purpose is required. Provide a statement of why the student wants to pursue a graduate degree, an indication of the section the student wishes to join, a list of three program faculty the student is interested in as advisers, and at least one program faculty who is interested in serving as the student’s interim adviser.

GPA of 3.2 or better in most recent degree program.

Transcript
You must submit one transcript from each post-secondary institution attended, regardless of whether or not a degree was earned or the credits are reflected on a separate transcript as transfer credit. If documents are not in English, also provide a certified English translation of each document. Translations certified by the degree granting university are considered official. Third party translations are not considered official. Failure to provide all academic documents will result in delays in processing your application materials. Please upload copies of academic transcripts (and diploma/degree certification, if applicable) with your application. If you have previously attended or are currently attending Ohio University, you must indicate this on your applciation. Your OHIO transcripts will be obtained by the Graduate College on your behalf.
